PHENOMENAUT AEROSPACE: We all know that comics is... →
bernardin:
As an industry? Okay, just making sure. There are two ways a business can bring a product to market and expect to make a profit: You can charge a small amount of money for it, but sell it in a large number of stores/outlets (the McDonalds/Old Navy model), or you can charge a large amount of money…

Trying to free bookshelf space
I’ve got a few hundred books. Most are unread, gotten cheaply or for free. It happened mostly by accident. Free book on the sidewalk? Sure. Bag of used library books for $5? Done. A new book here or there? Expensive, but only $10-15.
Now it’s a veritable mountain of books. I seemed to have been stockpiling as if trees would disappear tomorrow and books would become the new...

Chuck Klosterman:
Maybe you sometimes eat things that aren’t technically food, like napkins (a surprisingly easy mistake to make, particularly when eating a hot dog inside an unusually dark movie theater in suburban Atlanta).
What Makes Android Revolutionary →
android-gripes:
Yeah, we get it, Android is cheap. Unfortunately, that’s it.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being cheap. But flooding the market with cheap and low quality products is not revolutionary, not even close.
Why Best Buy is Going out of Business...Gradually... →
I used to patronize Best Buy for everything. DVDs, CDs, video games, computer parts, cables and everything else. Now it’s an infuriating experience, in person and online.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Looking for ideas
I had this great idea to buy comics and donate them to one of the local hospitals because my wife works on the pediatric floor there.
I’ve been progressing along this idea as being my rational for starting to buy comics again (trying to keep under a strict $10/week level).
And now she tells me, under the guise of trying to spare my feelings, that the kids don’t read the comics at the...

Penguin take their toys and go home; yank library... →
sabrinawrites:
The pullback of Penguin from the library market means that four of the “Big 6″ publishers no longer make their frontlist titles available to libraries in digital form: Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, and Hachette, which was rumored to have been rethinking its library strategy, but to date has not altered it. Another major publisher, HarperCollins, has famously placed 26-loan...

Digital vs Physical vs Digital
All Star Superman #1 - 12.
Comixology on iOS, Android & Web: Each issue is $1.99. Full Series = $24.
Physical softcover TPB on Amazon.com: $19.97.
Kindle Fire (and only Kindle Fire. No iOS, Android or eInk Kindles): $9.35.
I’m very tempted to buy it for Kindle Fire, but then I’d have to use my wife’s Kindle Fire. :- (
I’m desperately trying not to co-opt her Kindle...

Last night, Shazam Encore pushed an ad to my iPhone using Apple Push Notification services. Here’s a little more on why I believe what they did was an abject abuse of iOS development rules and a few interesting things I dug up in the iOS Developer Program License Agreement that backs up my position.
On a side note, this is the first time I’ve ever used Storify to compose a timeline of...

I think spam is going to become an issue on tumblr very soon. I’ve never been a heavily followed/liked person, but I keep getting likes from users whose profile pictures are all of hot women.
Hot women liking me? This can never end well.

All that worry over nothing. Netflix? Still good. HBO Go? Still good. Kindle? Still good. Hulu Plus? Still good. MLB At Bat? Still good.

What you need to know about iTunes Match →
If you don’t renew the yearly $25 subscription, your iCloud store goes away. iTunes purchases will still be available to all devices, and anything that you have downloaded from iCloud to you devices you keep. This includes iTunes Plus versions you have chosen to replace older, lower quality rips in your main iTunes library. Apple explained that replacing those lower-quality rips is...
