broken is waiting to be fixed

Looking for ideas

I had this great idea to buy comics and donate them to one of the local hospitals because my wife works on the pediatric floor there.

I’ve been progressing along this idea as being my rational for starting to buy comics again (trying to keep under a strict $10/week level).

And now she tells me, under the guise of trying to spare my feelings, that the kids don’t read the comics at the hospital. Four months after I embarked on this project.

So what in the hell do I do with all of these comics now?

I used to have 15 long boxes full of them through college, thinking I was curating a collection that would be well worth the time and effort. After not buying comics for 10 years and restarting along side DC’s New 52, I thought that the hospital solution was how I could:

  1. Get my comics fix
  2. Not rebuild a massive collection
  3. Get a little freebie charity, self-worth feeling

I’m not of the delusion that comics are worth anything. Much like the person who gets the newspaper every day, they’re to be read and then tossed. I was happier thinking they’d be going to someone than going in the bin. Now that it looks like they’re going into the bin, will I keep buying them?

Anyone have any ideas on what to do with 12-15 comics per month?
